Nuke power?

You all know about my conservative views. I am not sure that any position on nuclear energy falls to either side. We need various sources of energy in this country, there is no doubt about it, but I believe that nuclear is an uncontrollable beast that we do not know enough about to use. This source of energy can quickly...

Unbiased News?

I’ve been sitting around for a time wondering what I can complain about. I have not listened to the talking heads from any network for several months and only tried to find actual world news presented in an unbiased fashion. It is virtually impossible to achieve this goal. I do however, watch CNBC in order to...

Pick Your Reason For Why You Vote Democrat

I am not sure who wrote this but it rings true with me. 10. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t. 9. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending...

Politics Journal: The Unbearable Weakness of Congress

August 26, 2016 · Leave a Comment

By Jyoti Malhotra Parliament took a long weekend to mark Muhurram, the festival that commemorates the martyrdom of Mohammed’s grandson, Imam Hussein. It is marked by a spirit of mourning and self-flagellation, which seemed apt for the Congress party, which is expected today to announce that its bold plans to further open foreign direct investment in retail has been shelved. Associated Press Photo/Bikas Das A man walks through a traditional market in Kolkata, Dec. 5. The suspension on such a key reform is a cruel blow for the party and the United Progressive Alliance coalition... [Read the full story]

Personal responsibility: Yours or the Governments?

August 7, 2016 · 2 Comments

Yesterdays blog seemed to stimulate some controversy. It seems that my liberal friends think that I am lucky and have an “I got mine you get yours mentality”. The blog was about personal responsibility. It was about making decisions in our own lives that place us where we are today. I used healthcare reform as an example of personal decision making. I was described as lucky, interesting. Continuing with the premise that we are responsible for where we are in life because of the decisions we make. I have no debt, no credit cards, I have a savings account that will pay my bills for a... [Read the full story]

Do you really check your receipts? Avoid being taken!

July 14, 2016 · 1 Comment

There is a e-mail floating around and it seems this has been passed around before.  But this is something I felt was worthy of mentioning again.  You will never be so complacent again after reading this if you never check your receipts at the check out.  I know I many times am so busy with my daily life that I just hurry though the store and can’t wait to get checked out that I take the receipt and thank the cashier and is off on my merry way. It is our own fault if this scam happens to us.  Our fault for not double checking our receipts.  I am not saving things like this happen all... [Read the full story]
