● President Obama’s approval rating hit a new low of 47 percent, according to the latest Gallup poll. But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that a 6-year-old with a crayon could come up with the same poll results. I bet it’s the same 6-year-old with a crayon that came up with the last budget.

● Speaking on the budget in his speech on the economy this week, President Obama said that we have to continue to “spend our way out” of this recession. I don’t know much about economics, but aren’t we like a trillion dollars in debt? Spending our way out of the recession? Isn’t that like trying to drink your way out of alcoholism?

● At the Copenhagen climate summit, they’re talking about saving the environment. The delegates had 1,200 limos and 140 private jets. Or as they call that in Malibu, Earth Day.

● According to a new study, text messages now outnumber cell phone calls 3-to-1. And that’s just while driving.

● The weather in Los Angeles was unseasonably cold, with temperatures this morning in the 40s. As a result, the city of Los Angeles has applied for federal disaster relief.

● Rush Limbaugh says that black people are depressed because President Obama isn’t doing a very good job. Proving once again that no one has their finger on the pulse of the African-American community like Rush Limbaugh.

● Domino’s Pizza has pulled their commercials from the MTV show “Jersey Shore” because they say it portrays Italian-Americans in a negative light. In a related story Italy has asked Domino’s to stop portraying pizza in a negative light.

● People are speculating that Tiger Woods and his wife are thinking of moving to Sweden. Because if there’s one place to get away from hot blondes, it’s Sweden.

● Barack Obama is going to accept his Nobel Peace Prize tomorrow. As you know, the Nobel Prize is a predictor of the Academy Awards.

● Only two other presidents have won the Nobel Prize. Woodrow Wilson, who was credited for ending World War I, and Teddy Roosevelt for inventing the teddy bear.

● The Salahis, the couple that trashed the White House dinner party recently, are going to be subpoenaed by the House Homeland Security Committee. And I’m thinking, “Why bother? They’ll probably show up anyway.”

● A new poll shows that Obama has the lowest approval rating of any first-year president. Things are so bad that today he said the surge in Afghanistan was all Tiger Woods’ idea.

● It’s been announced that in 2010, the soap opera “As the World Turns” will be canceled. That’s terrible! It’s a soap opera. Can’t they just put it in a coma or something?

● Us Weekly puts the Tiger Woods mistress count at 12 so far. It was 11 this morning, now it’s 12. When did he have time to play golf?

● In a speech in Washington, President Obama said, “We are all in a very different place than we were in a year ago.” And Tiger Woods said, “Yeah, you could say that . . .”

● Tiger’s wife reportedly moved out of their house in Florida and bought a $2 million mansion in Sweden. It’s on an island so remote, there are only five women there who will have affairs with Tiger.

● This is interesting: Congress was hard at work yesterday — Congress — trying to figure out a fair play-off system for college football. Meanwhile, the NCAA spent the afternoon kicking around ideas on how to win the war in Afghanistan.

On Friday Oct 9th, 2009 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded the President Barack Obama. This is a fact the world now knows. But did you know that he is the third prominent US Democrat to win this prize recently? The other two were Former President Jimmy Carter in 2002 and Former Vice President Al Gore in 2007.

What is the message this is sending to the world from Europe and is it political?

There has been a great number of people that interpreted the Nobel Peace Prize given to Obama less than nine months into his presidency coupled with his nomination before he was even well known and before he had time to pursue much peace policy, as knife in the back of the Former President George W. Bush, who was not very popular in Europe. Even supporters of President Obama were surprised he had won the Nobel Peace Prize so early in his presidency.

Was there a political message in the award? Obama has now been widely credited with improving America’s global image after Bush’s eight-year presidency. Whereas, President Bush alienated friends and foes with policies that often aroused international anger.

So it seems that the Nobel Peace Prize committee’s announcement seemed to send this big message when they said, “Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics,” and they said. “Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts.”

Has any Republicans won the Nobel Peace Prize? Yes there has been a few, but none recently. Past winners would be: Former President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, Former Secretary of State Elihu Root in 1912, former Vice President Frank Billings Kellogg in 1929 and former Vice President Charles G. Dawes.

Some people have been saying this gave President Obama credibility on the “world stage” and others are saying it gives him “a lot to live up to”. And in this world of “Instant News” across the world, maybe partly the reason President Obama was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize? Martin Indyk, of the Brookings Institution said, “The prize signals that America is definitively back in the world’s good graces and the president deserves full credit for that.” And it was also said. “Now comes the hard part: turning goodwill into concrete results that can heal the wounds of a very troubled world.” There are many more statements that are floating around the news and internet that have the same tone. The “tone” being that President Obama has not “YET” done anything but talked about doing something.

So in the aftermath of the award announcement the Democrats have declared this as a vindication of their party’s positions. Whereas, the Republicans have stated Obama lacks substance and trades on his charisma. So for sure, in the aftermath discussions it is very political.

President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize! What a great honor for him and the country. Why did he win it? This man was unknown until the presidential elections began, he was a obscure junior senator from Illinois, he has been in office for about eight months.

I don’t see any significant accomplishments yet. I don’t see anything but eloquent speeches around the world.

Are his intentions noble? I like to believe they are, who doesn’t want to eliminate “nukes”? Who doesn’t want better relationships with those who oppose us?

I don’t really know what criteria the committee based this award on, it may be valid, but I haven’t seen any real results from his presidency to date. What would justify an award of this magnitude?

I have to admire his run so far, people love him, his ratings are high, he is getting credit for what he might do someday, what a great legacy he is building on a house of cards, amazing.

I guess as long as his supporters think he is giving them something for nothing he will continue to enjoy this type of success.

The Presidency of the United States is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, I don’t know why anyone would want it, but god bless those that step up and do the job, including President Obama. “But!” there is more to the job than just showing up and talking about what you might do.

I for one am still waiting for results.
