<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fyes-23.com%2Fpolitics%2Fthank-you-president-obama%2F"></g:plusone>

Mr. President, you were amused and said we should be thanking you for cutting our taxes. Let me be amongst the first to thank you for allowing me to keep $13 dollars a month of my own money. It is going a long ways to making my life a lot easier. It has allowed me to purchase many of the things I have always wanted but could never afford. Why I can even purchase an extra 4.9 gallons of gas each and every month if the price doesn’t surpass $2.65 a gallon.
I am glad you are amused by the fact that you think we common people don’t realize what a monetary boon this was for us. I know that when you make upwards of $5 million dollars a year you can appreciate how much a $13 dollars month means to most of us. You certainly relate well to how hard it is to get from month to month on such a small amount of income.

Actually I would also like to thank you and the Congressional leadership for quadrupling the national debt and increasing our deficit with all the helpful programs you are implementing to guide us through our lives. I don’t know how I got to be this old without all the guidance from my government. I am so glad that you and Congress passed the stimulus bill and have spent the money in such productive ways, it thrills me to see the weekly unemployment number at over 450k each and every week. That 10% unemployment number is just a testament to how well that program worked.

The size of our government and the control it exercises just sends chills down my spine as I envision all the problems it is going to solve in the future. I admire all the forward thinking you and our leaders have put into taking control of our nations businesses and how well you are doing controlling the unions. Thank you for all of that. I cannot wait for the Cap and Trade, Finance Reform and all the other bills in the house to make it into law. This is going to increase our debt to levels that insure the success of our country,

Thank you so much.

RodZ

<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fyes-23.com%2Fpolitics%2Fhealth-care-bill-still-looming%2F"></g:plusone>

119 Congressmen have signed a petition to promote and pass a public option, the Democratic leadership is still pushing for reconciliation to move the bill to the Presidents desk for signature, the proposed bipartisan meeting scheduled by the President to discuss health care reform appears to be more of an ambush than a true productive meeting.
I suggest to you that the lesson of Massachusetts has been discount by the Democrats and they think the American people will “get over it” once the bill is passed and we see how wonderful it is to pay more for our coverage and get less for it. (For those of you who don’t recognize it, that was sarcasm.) I subscribe that this is just another Washington slap in the face to the American people. We are concerned with the unbelievable debt this Administration and Congress is amassing. We are concerned with the coming crash of our economy because of that debt. We are concerned that a government that cannot manage their current health care programs wants to expand and control more heath care programs. Do they care, hell no!
I am also concerned that there is a Cap and Trade bill still waiting for the same process to completion. This bill will put this country at a serious disadvantage in the world economy and is base on questionable science.
I don’t think there is a way out. I don’t think that a shift in power in Washington will fix these problems. It seems to me that power still corrupts and absolute power still absolutely corrupts. These folks cannot relate to the common man nor do they want to. One cannot live the lifestyle they live and understand what middle Americans want or need.
The purpose of our government is to protect us not care for us. The purpose of our government is to govern not rule.

<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fyes-23.com%2Fpolitics%2Fshoulda-coulda-woulda-super-majority-fails%2F"></g:plusone>

It is striking to me that our government is in such a dysfunctional state. This is what happens when people become so opposed in their views that they cannot reasonably arrive at a solutions to problems. They Democrats had a super majority, in theory they should have been able to pass any legislation they wanted to pass. They could not achieve one single super vote. Why was this?
I maintain we have lost our moral compass, we cannot seem to look at any problem without a “what’s in for me” point of view. Our government is a prime example of this. The leadership of the United States has an obligation to the people to protect us not provide for us. Our leadership has been told this by the reaction of the people to the latest rounds of legislation being put forward by the Democrats. They are still not listening to us or the more reasonable legislators in their own party. They Pelosi, Reed and Obama camp are still trying to pass the health care bill, cap and trade and more stimulus. I don’t see any chance of them backing off and looking at what would really benefit the American people.
Our debt is staggering, our spending is staggering, our ability to pay this debt is not a reality. If the government doesn’t cut spending across the board and introduce a balanced budget law we will continue towards bankruptcy. The Pay-Go bill is a good start but will not solve the problem until substantial cuts are made to the spending side.
I wonder why so many Democratic legislators are deciding not to run for re-election. I wonder what they know that we don’t. I wonder if many of them are just plain tired of the constant left movement of their party.
The constant chant of the left that the Republicans are the “party of no” is just so much crap, you guys had a super majority, shoulda, coulda, woulda. The constant blaming of the previous administration is getting tiring, when the debt quadruples in one year and you start taking credit for accomplishments set in place by the previous administration. The new push towards jobs legislation and bipartisanship is laughable. It is a political show designed to once again blame the party of no. I say god bless the party of no, and the American people, they are the only thing that will stop the insanity.

<g:plusone size="" href="http%3A%2F%2Fyes-23.com%2Fpolitics%2Fcap-and-trade-climate-change-the-next-big-bill%2F"></g:plusone>

Why don’t we start with the obvious? We do need to develop and implement alternative energy. We are going to run out of oil sooner or later. We need to be energy independent. Oil and coal are pollutants, we all need and want clean air and water, we all want a clean environment. Can we all agree on this premise?
Having said that, lets look at the cap & trade solution. In an interview in the Wall Street Journal, dated August of 2009, Thomas Crocker, the architect of cap & trade, stated: “I’m skeptical that cap-and-trade is the most effective way to go about regulating carbon,” says Mr. Crocker, 73 years old, a retired economist in Centennial, Wyo. He says he prefers an outright tax on emissions because it would be easier to enforce and provide needed flexibility to deal with the problem.” Mr. Crocker further states, cap-and-trade is better suited for problems where the damages are clear — like acid rain in the 1990s — and a hard limit is needed quickly.(read the entire article at, http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125011380094927137.html), He clearly states that cap & trade is not the “cure all for everything”. He continues with a descriptive narrative of why.
I wonder what you would find if you followed the money, who stands to benefit from cap & trade. I invite you to visit California SkyWatch.com at, http://californiaskywatch.com/documents/htmldocs/pp_cap_and_trade_part_1.htm. and read Rosalind Peterson’s blog. Ms. Peterson is an environmental activist and is an interesting read. Ms. Peterson writes, “why wasn’t Gore out in public, speaking, and working toward pollution reduction during the eight years he was Vice-President of the United States? Now he is almost completely ignoring the EPA in order to promote a money market scheme, which he calls “The Carbon Exchange Market.” He expects that everyone, including large, special interest corporations, will automatically pledge to reduce emissions and that these emissions will be automatically “…converted into tradable credits…If participants reduce their emissions below their target, they can sell their carbon credits on the exchange for a profit…if they fail to reduce their emissions, they must buy credits from others…” Why aren’t their calls for rules, regulations, and penalties for non-performance instead?
Thus, it appears that Gore and other corporations intend to make money through this type of investment scheme. There is just one problem. This scheme appears to globalize pollution through trading, buying, and selling. The end result is that polluters will continue to pollute and buy from a long list of those who have real or fake pollution credits to sell. It is a great idea for those special corporate interests that established this money making market scheme because they will make fantastic profits…but it does not regulate or reduce the pollution that is responsible for climate change and the polluting of our air, rivers, and streams. And it will not make a significant reduction in the pollutants that are causing declining human health, a rise in childhood asthma, and other respiratory problems.
The “cap and trade” plan has other huge drawbacks. It fails to finance the technology that will help industry and all of us to reduce pollution. The American people are being sold a bill of goods that isn’t worth the paper it is printed on. What we fail to grasp is a “crisis” has been generated in order to get us to buy into enormous money market schemes called “caps and trades,” questionable experimental geo-engineering schemes, experimental weather modification programs, and a questionable plan for carbon sequestration.
Richard Drury, Communities for a Better Environment’s Board President, put it this way in a 2006 article: “Prior to pollution trading programs, there was no “right” to pollute at all…However, to allow companies to buy and sell the “right” to pollute, it was necessary for the first time to create a new property right in pollution itself. The new “right” to pollute jeopardizes the public’s right to govern its own environment, reversing hundreds of years of common law and good government…” We at Yes-23.com find that statement extremely telling don’t you?
If we look at who else benefits dollar wise what would we see? It’s not just Al Gore of course but many others. If we follow the money to the United Nations we would see many countries with their hands out looking to grab United States taxpayer dollars. We all know the UN membership wants America to prosper and succeed don’t we?
The following link: “Link to Full Printable 255-Page PDF Report” will take you to the US Senate Minority report showing over 700 dissenting scientists (updates previous 650 report) from around the globe challenging man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Al Gore.
Many cap and trade supporters believe that the IPCC is the authority on climate change and the scientific date provide by them is irrefutable and absolute. What I have found in my research is that the IPCC is not wholly a scientific body. It selects who and what scientific experts and peer reviews it uses in it’s reports. Many of the scientists associated with the IPCC have resigned and asked their names be removed from the reports and some have had to sue to have their names removed. I also have found that the so-call “hacked” emails from leading scientist show that the data has been manipulated because they cannot account for the cooling trends of the last decade or so. I have also seen that NASA will not release it’s data to a freedom of information request to prove it’s position on climate change. I will not argue these points because I am trying to make the point that there is enough doubt about this subject that we need to stop any cap and trade legislation. We need to focus on developing alternative energy which will solve the pollution problem.
Why do we insist on trying something that is failing miserably in Europe? They have had to modify or abandon their efforts with cap and trade. They have demonstrated no discernible reduction in their carbon output because of their implementation of their cap and trade policies and the carbon credit fluctuations in the market have been causing chaos within that market.
To all the environmentalists out there I would say, you cannot have it both ways. You want the green energy but you don’t want to build the infrastructure to support it because it might effect some critter or plant in a negative way. It seems to me that your position is unsupportable and I wonder how you will like losing the modern conveniences your enjoy.
I don’t know about you, but I enjoy a warm or cool home, I enjoy have a light source, I enjoy driving my car and watching the boob tube.
Finally I am including a video produced by the Cascade Policy Institute. It is a counter to Al Gores movie and includes commentary by folks from the Heritage Foundation and many others including President Obama telling us that, clearly our electric bills will increase substantially.
Most of us are unaware that these bills are not about creating green jobs, providing energy security and reducing pollution. Cap and Trade is a complex energy tax, period. It will affect all levels of production and economic activity in this country. The current leadership in this country has several agenda items it wants to impose on the citizens of this country, all designed to cost we the people more in taxes, remove more freedoms and expand government control.

I am perplexed by why anyone would want to pay more in taxes and want to have the government involved in our lives anymore than it already is. If you just look at the healthcare bills floating through the system you would realize they do nothing to lower our cost of medical care and they put the government in control of a major portion of the economy. If you look at the stimulus package you will see it has done nothing to create jobs. If you look at all the deals cut with the banks, unions, insurance companies and on and on you must ask yourself where is the help for the average citizen?

I keep hearing that we need to be more like the rest of the world, why? What made America the economic giant it used to be? Could it be a free market place? If you ask yourself, will the major energy suppliers of the world just go out of business when the oil runs out or will they be producing alternate energy? My answer would be that they will shift to the most profitable source of energy available and do it very well without any government interference (help).

Why would we want to be like the rest of the world when we have set the standard. One can make the argument that times have changed, it is a world market. I agree with that statement but would add, get the government out of the way and let us compete without handicapping us.

The truth is that people are like crabs in a bucket, if one is almost out the rest pull him back down. Don’t you think we should be out performing everyone else and not settling for being like everyone else?

I am sick and tired of hearing everyone blaming Bush, get over it, he’s gone. Why don’t we focus on fixing what is broken instead of fixing blame. Bush didn’t break healthcare or the climate or many other things we are having to deal with. If we have leadership that truly wants to give us change we can believe in, give us change that will enable us to be successful and not make us wards of the state.

Having said that, let me ask the question, are your for a 40% plus increase in your electric bill every month? Are you for paying more and getting less for your healthcare coverage? Are you for an increase in your federal income tax? I’m not!

While we are passionate and focused on healthcare reform the house is working on the next great legislative “rip-off,” Cap and Trade. In simple terms this bill places a cap on the amount of carbon that industry produces and allows them to trade or buy carbon credits for any amount produced in excess of that limit.

Each company will get approximately 88% in credits but the remaining amount will passed on in cost to the consumer. Senator Boxer and company have decided that each ton of carbon is valued at $28. The energy industry has done the math and the results based on these numbers will result in around a 40% increase in all of our power bills. If you look further into this you will find an embedded cost in everything we buy. The result will be realized in higher cost to the consumer.

Companies will look for a less costly, less regulated place to manufacture their products and move to that place. Net result will be fewer American jobs, less tax revenue and no reduction in carbon emissions world wide.

We Americans seem to feel that, if it doesn’t effect me, so what? This bill will affect each and everyone of us. When we are forced to swallow all the sweeping changes that are coming out of this legislative body and administration our income will be reduced significantly.

Our legislators don’t really care about our well being nor do they care about the basic american way of life. It has come down to agenda’s, how much can they control the people of this country to ensure their continued power?

These folks don’t believe that your money is yours. It is theirs and they will tell you how much you get to keep! Just look at California, big screen televisions are soon to be outlawed. Now I realize California is broke, hmm I lived there and I can tell you it is because of the social programs put in place over many years without regard to the cost. I now live in another state.

Between the bailout, stimulus, appropriations bill, healthcare reform and cap and trade our deficit is growing beyond belief. The total disregard for our money is mind boggling. This is another example of the government knowing what is best for us. I don’t want anyone taking care of me or my money!

The First Lady made a comment awhile back saying “for the first time in her adult life, she was proud to be an American”. Well let me say that for the first time in my adult life I am afraid to be an American. This country may never recover and be the economic giant it once was, and that will be because of these initiatives. The tooth paste is almost out of the tube. Please folks wake up and let those folks in Washington know we are awake and nowhere as stupid as they think we are.

To my liberal friends please look at your wallets and realize that the impact to you is as great as it is to the rest of us.

I don’t want to look back several years from now and say I told you so. It will be too late to fix the problems that we will face from these sweeping changes to our way of life. Please call or write your representative or senator or even the President. Express your concerns with respect but express them over and over again.

Wow! Talk about a powerful lobbyist. I guess it’s ok for Al Gore to do exactly what the insurance lobbies do.

When the common man looks at Al Gores carbon credit company and his life style, it seems like Al Gore is an entrepreneurial capitalist much like the entities the left tries to cast as evil greedy villains.

I really think with the extreme deficits the U.S. is facing and the massive health care costs reform is bringing, the common man has to ask the question, why does the government keep spending our money irresponsibly?

Never fear Cap and Trade is coming! The tax dollars the government will get from us will more than cover all our needs. Of course you’ll still need to pay your mortgage, your utility bills and buy food. You can at least see the 100,000 dollar car Al help to build when you see him on television driving one.
