Last week I wrote about the Massachusetts college that removed US flags so on Sunday we have the Veterans (about 1,000 of them) gathering and protesting at the western Massachusetts college. The protest is all about the college’s decision to take down and stop flying all flags (and mostly the US Flag). This all started with the students allegedly burned a flag in protest of Donald Trump’s election victory.
It seems that hundreds all over the New England region joined the protest, including Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, which said “For the students here and the president and board of trustees have risen from what the veterans sacrificed, this flag and not to fly the flag on this campus if you were in some other countries around the world it would be handled very, very differently”
If you research about the college is shows:
Hampshire College is a private liberal arts college in Amherst, Massachusetts, United States. It was opened in 1970 as an experiment in alternative education, in association with four other colleges in the Pioneer Valley: Amherst College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Together they are now known as the Five Colleges, or the Five College Area. The College is widely known for its alternative curriculum, socially liberal politics, focus on portfolios rather than distribution requirements, and reliance on narrative evaluations instead of grades and GPAs.
