Thank You President Obama

Mr. President, you were amused and said we should be thanking you for cutting our taxes. Let me be amongst the first to thank you for allowing me to keep $13 dollars a month of my own money. It is going a long ways to making my life a lot easier. It has allowed me to purchase many of the things I have always wanted but could never afford. Why I can even purchase an extra 4.9 gallons of gas each and every month if the price doesn’t surpass $2.65 a gallon.
I am glad you are amused by the fact that you think we common people  don’t realize what a monetary boon this was for us. I know that when you make upwards of $5 million dollars a year you can appreciate how much a $13 dollars month means to most of us. You certainly relate well to how hard it is to get from month to month on such a small amount of income.

Actually I would also like to thank you and the Congressional leadership for quadrupling the national debt and increasing our deficit with all the helpful programs you are implementing to guide us through our lives. I don’t know how I got to be this old without all the guidance from my government. I am so glad that you and Congress passed the stimulus bill and have spent the money in such productive ways, it thrills me to see the weekly unemployment number at over 450k each and every week. That 10% unemployment number is just a testament to how well that program worked.

The size of our government and the control it exercises  just sends chills down my spine as I envision all the problems it is going to solve in the future. I admire all the forward thinking you and our leaders have put into taking control of our nations businesses and how well you are doing controlling the unions. Thank you for all of that. I cannot wait for the Cap and Trade, Finance Reform and all the other bills in the house to make it into law. This is going to increase our debt to levels that insure the success of our country,

Thank you so much.

  2. $13.00 Dollars!!! Hmm now I am wondering where my $13.00 dollars are. Darn I think I sent it in on National Tax Day to pay the National Debt.

Thanks for your empathetic and tactful leadership. It is inspiring to know that even though you disagree with people who pay your salary, that you recognize their legitimate concerns. /s

Your post was almost pure sarcasm. That would be OK if you were at least witty. Although I’m open, and perhaps even sympathetic, to the points you want to make, your lack of a supporting argument gives me the impression that you have no supporting argument.

Next time, please post useful information. If you don’t like something Obama said, refute. I suggest you leave the sarcasm to comedians and moody teenagers.

Jim I am at a loss of what to say to you, you got the sarcasm, thats good, I wasn’t trying for “witty”. I am not sure what I need to refute. He thinks we should thank him for what he has done for us so I did. I am not sure there is a supporting argument for a thank you for being a benevolent dictator.
As for useful information, I suggest you go to the library and not the blogosphere. I try to post opinions, usually mine, based on what I believe to factual. It is a fact Obama wants us to thank him for lowering our taxes, it is a fact that there are several bills pending in Congress that will cost us money we don’t have and it is a fact that in a little over one year this administration and congress has the national debt projected at around 12 trillion a mere four times higher than Bush had it .

Haven’t been here in a while but I see there is still no pleasing you. It’s your own fault you got such a small tax reduction. If you were a millionaire you could have benefitted from Bush’s unfunded tax break for the rich! I’ve always been of the opinion that working class folks who run with the Republics are akin to young women who are rock star groupies. They enjoy the luxuries and the glamour, but in the final analysis, that rocker has no concern for the girls. He just wants more money and all that it will buy. And if she gets hurt in the process, oh well!

Now, how do you know Obama wants you to thank him? Did he tell you so? Or did some talking-head tell you so? Is it your message that you are not thankful for your taxes not increasing? Remember, those of us who live in states with income taxes will lose some of our tax decrease to the state because we have less to write off. I don’t know about Texas.

As for being a dictator, perhaps YOU should partake of the library. Obama was ELECTED by a very large majority of American voters in 2008. It was all over the news (though maybe not on Faux News). Just because you disagree with Obama’s policies does not mean he is a dictator. It means you are in the minority! In a democratic government, there will always be a minority position – unless there is unanimity of opinion.

As for the spending us into debt concern, I remind you it was your Texas cowboy who put us in debt and signed the bailout bill when it was apparent the U.S. was facing economic collapse. Now the argument being made today is that we HAVE to spend this money to stop the economy’s downward spiral. I’m not an economist so I have to go on faith that these guys know what they are talking about, but we have had three straight quarters of economic growth under Obama. It will, hopefully and soon, be reflected in increased job opportunities in the near future. And I remind you that a major part of our debt is interest. If we could pay our debt tomorrow we would save more than $3 T in interest. When more Americans are working instead of barely surviving on unemployment insurance, we will have more money going into America’s coffers and we can pay off our debts sooner.

And when did you get so grumpy and negative. I remember you as a happy, easy-going kid. Is this what I have to look forward to when I get to be your age? Oh, wait. I am your age. NEVER MIND!
