Health Care Reform=Bankruptcy?
Todays budget is in shambles, what we need is being decided by those who would bankrupt this county for “ideals”. While I agree healthcare is in need of reform, I would say that I doesn’t require redesign at the expense of our nations future. If we are truly looking for cost savings to pay for this program we would be looking to reduce the budget in areas that only serve a political agenda or payback for special interest groups. There is no reason to be funding ACORN and the like. There is no reason to send billions of dollars in earmarks that only produce limited jobs or results to a small number of citizens.
While I don’t pretend to know what is in the budget in total, I do know that it contains billions of dollars that could be used in a more productive way. I also know that you cannot borrow your way out of debt. Common sense tells us we must reduce our spending and our debt. Washington will tell you that the earmarks are a “drop in the bucket” but I know, when reducing debt, one starts small and it adds up. Pay the small debts first, add that to the larger debts and in time it snowballs. Just common sense, something that is lacking in Washington.

Where people who are concerned about “health care” need to be careful is in limiting the debate to whether or not certain classes of people have “insurance.” Instead, the debate should be about why health care is so expensive in the first place. Why is health care ten times more expensive compared to housing, food, recreation, education, or any other part of a person’s budget?
Technology? Nope. Malpractice insurance? Nope. Defensive medicine? Nope. Give up?
It is supply and demand—period.
When Medicare was placed into law, 40,000,000 people suddenly had “free” health care and boy o boy did they take advantage! No expense was too great. The only thing that mattered was prolonging life so they could continue to draw on Social Security for those two extra years. Uncle Sugar was paying, so doctors and clinics were only too happy to oblige. Unfortunately, all the other people in the country still needed their health care and suddenly, with the same number of doctors and hospitals, the demand greatly exceeded supply.
Now, boys and girls, what do we know about the LAW of supply and demand? “When demand rises and supply stays the same, PRICES WILL RISE.” And my friends, prices did rise— and rise— and rise— and rise. It took no time at all until the entitlement of Medicare exceeded the budget and our wonderful politicians on both sides of the isle, not wanting to risk losing their jobs by demanding a program whose budget is balanced, simply borrowed what they needed and passed the bill along to these old folks kids and grandkids, but it didn’t stop there. By living longer than they would have otherwise, they also drew out far more Social Security than they ever paid in by many orders of magnitude. So, Republicans and Democrats borrowed money to pay that bill too!
Bing Bang Boom! A 12 Trillion Dollar debt. That’s $39,600 for every man woman and child in the United States. Got a family of four? Your bill is nearly $160,000. Your interest bill every year is over $6,000. My friends, INSURANCE is the very very least of our worries.
yea! what he said!
