Could the fiction you watch on TV have political backing?

After hearing about the new show V – Aliens I saw a striking similarity to our governmental takeover of our healthcare.

The plot is simple: this very charismatic alien shows up, and promises hope and change, and indoctrinates all of the youth to spread their message. Meanwhile, there is a resistance of people who’ve heard the truth, that know that all of these messages of hope and change are just fronts for the enslavement of humanity.

Near the end of the first episode the method in which the aliens will take over the world is revealed. Anna is giving a news caster, Chad Decker, an interview. Anna exclaims:”The intent goes beyond just healing we want to provide complete medical services to all.”  And Chad Decker the interviewer responds with “You’re talking about Universal Healthcare?”

Also one of the anti-V resistances says, “It worries me that they came when we needed them the most. All they’re really doing is positioning themselves as the saviors of mankind.” 

Now compare this to what is going on around us today.  An inexperienced yet charismatic candidate appears out of nowhere spreading hope of change to a country that is going into a recession and proclaiming they just want to heal the nation by providing us with a healthcare plan for all.
