What happened to Christmas?
It seems to be that time of year again! And I know there my be some of you out there that are that are not of the same religion. And this is not a statement about how one religion is better than another.
No matter what religion you are how would you feel if suddenly someone said “You can’t” And there are many Religions that at one time or another have been told they can’t. One being in Germany with the Jewish Religion. And now it’s Christians and Christmas.
The Christian Religion is now being told they can’t say “Merry Christmas” because it is not Politically Correct! Kids in school are being told they can’t sing Christmas Carols. We are now suppose to say “Happy Holidays”
The stores still exploit Christmas expecting a great turn out of present buying, but many stores you will never hear them say the actual word “Christmas” So if they don’t have Christmas Spirit why have a “Holiday Sale”?
Next thing you know they will take away Thanksgiving because not everyone is a descendant of the Pilgrims. Then next to go would be the 4th of July, Independence Day because it might offend an immigrate. And you might think New Years Day might be safe, but then there are some countries that use a different calendar and might disagree.
So what is so wrong with the word “Christmas”? Yes I know in the christian religon it is the day they celebrate christ’s birth, and that is great, but to me the Word has many meanings.
Through my short lifespan just the simple word Christmas has meant a time of Joy and Peace. Even wars take a break in the “Spirit of Christmas” It’s a time to think of others, instead of ourself. It’s a time when children of all ages get a sparkle in their eyes. It a time where families come together. It’s a time to “Believe” no matter what it is you truly believe. It’s a time of “Santa Claus”.
So I ask the question again, What happened to Christmas?
