NJN serves no purpose except covering politics

The column by Sen. Frank Lautenberg in the June 26 Press involving television outlet New Jersey Network should have been in the comics section instead of the @Issue part of the paper.
It was not informative, enlightening or worth the time to read it. The thing is, I do watch NJN, and other than its coverage of hard-core politics involving Trenton, it serves no special purpose to those who watch it. No one, including Lautenberg, provides data about daily viewers or other useful information as to why the station is critical to the information flow that viewers consider vital.
I doubt NJN has much of an audience. Nor would it seem to be vital to the culture of our state. The case that the senator tries (in vain) to make seems to be about the demand for the station’s news. The reality is, this is all about partisan politics mainly slanted to favor Democrats, and another cheap shot at one of the best governors our state has ever had.
